Auto and pedestrian: A woman was crossing the parking lot at Stanford Shopping Center when she was struck by a motorist who failed to see her. She injured her lower back. The driver denied hitting her. We obtained a settlement of $134,000 for the pedestrian.

Aircraft accident: A woman was a passenger in a small, personal aircraft that made an emergency landing due to flames in the cabin. She exited prior to the aircraft coming to a full stop. As a result, she suffered burns and a fractured leg. The pilot's limited insurance policy did not even cover her medical bills. After an aggressive investigation, I brought two additional parties into the lawsuit. We obtained a confidential combined settlement from all three parties despite their claims that she was at fault for exiting the aircraft prior to a full stop.

Dog bite: A TV cable installer was installing cable at a homeowner's residence and was attacked by an English bulldog. He was bitten and suffered both physical injuries and emotional distress. With aggressive negotiations, we obtained a settlement of the homeowner's policy limit of $300,000 for his injuries.

Dog-related incident: A woman was strolling around her neighborhood when two dogs began barking at her. One of them chased her, and she fell to the ground and injured her shoulder. The dog walker claimed that the dog never got near her or touched her. After aggressive negotiations, we were able to obtain a confidential settlement for our client.

Product-related — product liability: A woman sat on a chair at a chain coffee shop and the chair broke. She fell and injured her tailbone. After a long and diligent investigation, the liable party was found, and we negotiated a settlement for our client.

Wrongful death — MUNI: A senior citizen was killed by a San Francisco MUNI streetcar when he was crossing the street. The MUNI operator claimed that the senior citizen ran outside of the marked crosswalk and into the path of the streetcar. The police concluded that the senior citizen was at fault, and MUNI denied liability. We obtained a settlement of just under $1 million for his surviving spouse and children.
